Medicine
Since 2012, the Foundation has awarded a total of SEK 330 million to 43 projects in medicine, including life sciences. Most of the grants have been awarded to Ragnar Söderberg Fellows in Medicine. A smaller number of grants have been awarded through the Swedish Foundations’ Starting Grant.

Calls for proposals
The Ragnar Söderberg Fellows in Medicine programme ran from 2012 to 2018. It was established to meet the need for funding among researchers who were in the process of establishing their own research group and developing an independent research programme. Today, many research funders offer similar funding opportunities, and we have therefore paused this programme.

Ragnar Söderberg Fellows in Medicine
The purpose of the programme was to provide promising early-career researchers with long-term funding, enabling them to establish their own research groups and develop as independent researchers. The grants were aimed at researchers who had received their PhD four to six years earlier and were based at Swedish universities. Grants were awarded to researchers with a strong scientific track record and innovative research ideas. Each researcher could receive up to SEK 8 million over five years.
The researchers are part of a network, and alumni continue to have the opportunity to organise an annual conference on their own initiative, funded by the foundation.
