Special initiatives

Daniela Calvigioni is assistant professor at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences at Linköping University. Her research group seeks to answer fundamental questions about how emotions influence our behaviour and ability to adapt by mapping how specific parts of the brain process positive and negative experiences.
The conference Brain-body networks: physiology, behavior and disease will explore how communication between the brain and body affects metabolism, stress, mental health, the immune system and disease.
Marja-Liisa Öberg, associate professor of EU law at the Faculty of Law at Lund University, will organise the conference Shifting Power in Europe: Gender, Law and Authority in EU High Politics together with associate professor Elsa Hedling. Marja-Liisa’s research focuses on how boundaries are drawn, changed and challenged in European integration, and what this means for the development of the EU.
The conference will examine how power and influence within the EU are changing, with a particular focus on women and countries outside the EU’s traditional centres of power.
About the grants
The grants are funded by the Ragnar Söderberg foundation, which makes the funding decisions following an assessment by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The aim is to give researchers at a relatively early stage of their careers the opportunity to organise a scientific conference at the Academy’s premises, with the participation of internationally leading researchers. The ambition is for the conferences to attract a broad audience of researchers from Sweden and abroad and to give early-career researchers opportunities to expand their professional networks.
