Special initiatives

The Swedish Foundations’ Starting Grant (SFSG) is aimed at researchers who have recently received their PhD and who received the highest rating in the European Research Council’s ERC Starting Grant call but were not awarded funding due to the ERC’s limited budget. Researchers based in Sweden from all fields of research are welcome to apply.
Since the programme was launched in 2014, 30 researchers have shared SEK 400 million in funding, and approximately one third of the researchers have subsequently received funding from the ERC, which is the long-term goal of the SFSG initiative.
SFSG is a collaboration between seven private research funders: the Erling-Persson Foundation, the Knowledge Foundation, the Kempe Foundations, the Olle Engkvist Foundation, the Ragnar Söderberg foundation, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and the ÅForsk Foundation.
More information about how to apply is available on the SFSG website.
