Special initiatives

Since 1951, Nobel Laureates and young researchers have come together at meetings in Lindau, and this year marks the 75th anniversary. During an intensive week, participants discuss research and science and build new connections with colleagues from around the world. This anniversary year, around 100 Nobel Laureates and approximately 600 young researchers will take part. The subject areas vary from year to year, and this summer’s theme is interdisciplinary, bringing together all the scientific disciplines represented by a Nobel Prize or the Prize in Economic Sciences: physics, chemistry, medicine and economic sciences.
Eight outstanding young researchers have been selected to represent Sweden at this year’s Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting:
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (the Academy), together with the Ragnar Söderberg foundation, nominates students, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers aged 35 or younger for consideration. The Lindau Review Panel then makes the final selection. The Ragnar Söderberg foundation also provides funding for the Swedish participants.
“Attending the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is a unique opportunity for young researchers to discuss ground-breaking research, build international networks and, of course, meet Nobel Laureates. We are delighted to be able to give eight researchers that opportunity again this year.”
says Anna Wetterbom, CEO of the Ragnar Söderberg foundation.
