Special initiatives

The Ragnar Söderberg foundation has extended its collaboration agreement with the Lindau Foundation until 2026, enabling more early-career researchers in Sweden to attend the annual Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings. The meetings in Lindau offer a unique opportunity for doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers to meet peers from around the world and spend several intensive days discussing research with one another and with Nobel Laureates. The meetings alternate between medicine, physics, economic sciences, chemistry and interdisciplinary research.

One of the participants in last year’s meeting in medicine was Rosanne Reitsema from Örebro University, who describes the meeting as follows:

“It was truly a unique event that exceeded all my expectations. The Nobel Laureates were invited to give lectures about their own research, and I also had the opportunity to discuss some of my research with several of them. What I appreciated most of all was the open atmosphere that everyone helped create. Everyone was so enthusiastic about being there, getting to know one another and talking about their research or other topics.”

The foundation has also awarded funding to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, which selects the Swedish researchers who will attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings. Participants are selected through an open call in which early-career researchers can apply for a place in the Swedish delegation.
